Bring Back The Music

Bring Back The Music is a performing arts education program. The purpose of the program is the creation and operation of a community-based performing arts teaching laboratory accessible to low-income and disadvantaged youth.  We are an Oklahoma City-based 501 (c) (3) corporation.

Bring Back The Music provides quality performing arts education to students in central Oklahoma.

Recently, schools across America have reduced the number of programs offered to students due to declining budgets. Usually, the programs affected are performing arts. In Oklahoma, school boards face growing challenges due to reduced revenue, thus putting arts programs in an even more precarious situation.

The demise of the performing arts programs is harmful to all students. It is particularly harmful to low-income and socially disadvantaged children because they don’t have the resources to participate in these programs elsewhere.

To fill this void, Bring Back The Music was created. Students who participate in the arts have a greater success rate in school and in life. Performing arts instill ‘foundation skills’ needed for employment, like reasoning, thinking creatively, and visualizing.

Expanding Access to Bring Back The Music Programs for Under-served Youth and Developmentally Delayed Adults and Seniors

Bring Back The Music (BBTM) is committed to ensuring that the transformative power of the performing arts is accessible to all individuals, regardless of age, ability, or socioeconomic background. To expand access to our programs for under-served youth and for adults and seniors with developmental delays, we are adopting a multifaceted approach that prioritizes outreach, partnerships, accessibility, and sustainability.

For under-served youth, we plan to increase outreach to schools and community centers in low-income neighborhoods, offering after-school and weekend programs that eliminate common barriers such as cost, transportation, and equipment access. By collaborating with school districts, housing authorities, and youth service organizations, we will identify students who will most benefit from exposure to music education and creative expression. Scholarships, sliding scale fees, and in-school residencies will ensure equitable access for all participants.

To serve developmentally delayed adults and seniors, BBTM is designing inclusive programs that focus on sensory-friendly environments, adaptive instruments, and curricula tailored to participants’ cognitive and emotional needs. We will work closely with disability advocacy groups, residential facilities, senior centers, and family caregivers to develop engaging programming that supports social connection, emotional well- being, and lifelong learning. Programs will be delivered both on-site and in community-based settings, with trained teaching artists and therapists who understand the unique needs of neurodiverse populations.
